Ganyanggou, located northwest of Baoxing County of Ya’an City of China Sichuan Province, is a newly developed scenic spot, around 250 kilometers from Chengdu, the capital city of Sichuan. Although not as famous as Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong, it is the favorite of the locals. From middle October is its gorgeous season.
The Dongla Canyon in Ganyanggou has great fall in terrain, the altitude increasing from 1,800 meters to 5,338 meters. The red leaves are also up and down as the change of the terrain. People have to bend back their heads to see the end of the red leaves.
In the scenic spot of Ganyanggou, the peaks are lofty and wrapped by mist. The view is superb, and the air is extremely cool. The perpetual snow covered on the distant hilltop seems being melted by the red-fire leaves, and sets off its beauty.
In fact, among the self-drive tourists, the Dongla Canyon is well-known. When driving to the entrance to the Ganyanggou, you have to ditch the car and walk. Deeper people go, better the scenery becomes. There are Total over ten attractions for the visitors to explore. Advancing on foot along the most beautiful and grandest Dongla valley, you will often see crag rise abruptly out of the ground and red leaves climb the rock. The rain might fall at any time to brighten your sightseeing day.
If you fear lost, the safest way is to walk along river and encamp not far away from river beach.
The visitors could take Bus 28 at Chengdu to Shiyangchang, and then charter a car to Ya’an or to Ganyanggou. You’d better remember the phone number of the driver to appoint the time when you get back to Chengdu.
